The Barbican was the first arts organisation I fell in love with when I moved to the UK 21 years ago. I’ve seen incredible work there, from Robert Lepage to Touretteshero, Ronnie Burkett to Aphex Twin. I’ve laughed, cried, and sat in awe under that striking architecture. It’s a London institution that holds a very special place in my heart.
So when the Royal Shakespeare Company brought My Neighbor Totoro back to the Barbican, demand was sky-high. In just 30 minutes, more than 3,600 tickets were sold, with over 4,000 people in the queue. Thanks to the right planning and technology, every fan got through smoothly, and the whole onsale felt less like a crisis and more like a celebration.
That kind of setup means fewer headaches for teams and more energy for what really matters: creating unforgettable moments on stage and connecting with audiences who care deeply about the work.
What about you? What’s the most memorable onsale you’ve been part of? Was it a joy, a total headache, a surprise hit, or all of the above? Drop your thoughts in the comments below!
