Makes: A reportable structure to help you organise, set targets and assign accountability to your fundraising initiatives

Recipe: Track Your Progress Towards Your Fundraising Goals
Use campaign structures in Spektrix to effectively plan, monitor and report on your fundraising work. By creating a layered system of campaigns, sub-campaigns and sub-sub-campaigns, you can reflect how you actually fundraise and gain insight into how close you are to reaching your targets.

  • Opportunities Administrator user role
  • Understanding of Funds in Spektrix
  • A clear picture of your organisation’s fundraising targets and income streams

  • Track your success against fundraising targets
  • Organise smaller goals within a larger campaign structure
  • Monitor donations, pledges and forecasted income
  • Ensure every donation is linked to a campaign for clean reporting

In Spektrix, campaigns are structured in three layers:
  1. Campaign – typically used to define the timeframe, such as a financial year or project
  1. Sub-Campaign – used to define who is donating (e.g. Individual Giving)
  1. Sub-Sub-Campaign – used to define how the funds are being raised (e.g. Online Giving or a Gala Event)
Note: Campaigns can have targets assigned. Funds do not have associated targets.

Ask yourself these questions to build your structure:
  • When is the donation happening?
  • → Use this to define your Campaign (e.g. FY 2025/26)
  • Who is donating?
  • → Use this to define your Sub-Campaign (e.g. Individual Giving)
  • How are you fundraising from this group?
  • → Use this to define your Sub-Sub-Campaign (e.g. Major Donors or Online Giving)
Once defined:
  • Plan your structure out on paper or in a document before building it in the system

  • Create Campaigns in the Opportunities Interface:
  • Go to the Settings Cog > Campaigns Tab > New Campaign
  • Add Campaign Name, Dates, Code (optional) and Target
  • Click Save
  • Add Sub-Campaigns & Sub-Sub-Campaigns:
  • Select the Campaign you created
  • Click New Campaign again to create a Sub-Campaign
  • Repeat to create Sub-Sub-Campaigns under the Sub-Campaign
  • Link Campaigns to Funds:
  • Go to Admin Interface > Other > Funds
  • Edit the relevant Fund
  • Choose a Default Campaign from the dropdown
Campaigns can be linked to donations:
  • Automatically via the default campaign for that fund
  • Manually by creating an opportunity on a customer record (includes pledged, forecasted and received income)

Reports can be used to view, visualise and extract data from your Spektrix system. This article is about how to get help with Reports and how to complete the report request form. We’ll take you through the steps you can take to help you find and the information you need.
